⭐ Asteroid detected just hours before it exploded over Berlin – Amid all of the other news in Germany, a small asteroid exploded over Berlin last weekend. See the footage. ☄️
⭐ Video: What’s it like to launch a start-up as an immigrant in Germany? – It’s not easy to start a business in Germany and it’s even tougher if you’re a foreigner and “Only about a fifth of close to 2500 start-ups were launched by first- or second-generation immigrants in 2023.”

⭐ Berlin: The third best city in the world? – First, it was Leipzig and now it’s the capital, with Berlin being ranked as the third-best city in the world by Time Out magazine. I guess the judges never had to search for an apartment or visit the foreigner’s office in Berlin. 🙃
⭐ Germany’s top court rules far-right party’s ideology makes it ineligible for funding -The former NPD party (which is even more far-right than the AfD) will not be able to receive state funding “because its values and goals are unconstitutional and aimed at destroying the country’s democracy.”
⭐ In terms of how potential migrants to Germany are feeling right now, read Germany: Would-be migrant workers worried by growing racism and those thinking about getting citizenship are feeling it too – OPINION: Even with German citizenship reform foreigners must be wary of lurch to the far-right. The latter piece has strong words to make you pause when considering life in Germany as a foreigner – “To be frank: all the demonstrations in support of people like us are all very well and good, but what would be even better would be a country where almost a third of the population aren’t actively considering voting for a party in which barely-reconstructed Nazi Björn Höcke holds sway.”

Hi, I’m Cheryl. My mission is to help you move to Berlin and find work.
A Canadian in Berlin for 10+ years, I have the unique experience of moving to Berlin – not once, but twice. During my time in Berlin, I’ve had five different visas and worked as both a freelancer and a permanent employee for numerous Berlin companies. I even managed to find a new job during the pandemic and again in 2023, during Germany’s recession and massive layoffs in tech.
My day job has involved work as a hiring manager, overseeing the recruitment of countless people, as well as a team coach helping teams and individuals work better and find happiness in their careers. Through my side projects, I’ve also shared my personal experiences by publishing a series of helpful blog posts, creating a thriving community of job seekers, and hosting events to help people find work in Berlin. In 2021, I decided to put my coaching and recruiting talents to use by creating The Berlin Life, bringing my existing content and community together in one spot.
