⭐ I often get asked about my career journey in Germany as a foreigner (I’m from Canada), so I created the above graphic to showcase the roller coaster ride I’ve been on over the years. Putting it together was quite an emotional experience, as some of those moments were very difficult. Managing anxiety and depression while searching for a job and pretending to be calm during interviews was no easy feat. It makes me even more grateful for the life I have now. 💐

Naturally, the myth about Germany’s so-called efficiency came in at #1, with 72% of the 1,439 people casting their vote on it. 9% said that Germans always arriving on time was the biggest myth, 14% felt Germans don’t have a sense of humor, and 6% agreed that the biggest myth is that there are no speed limits on the Autobahn.

⭐ Housing Minister Klara Geywitz wants people to move to the German countryside, which has more than 2 million vacant homes. This could be an attractive option for those who work remotely and have difficulty finding an affordable place to live in big cities like Berlin and Munich.

⭐ The coalition government is arguing about the budget AGAIN. Discussions are also taking place about freezing the amount of money Burgergeld recipients receive.

⭐ Activists broke into four German airports this week, gluing themselves to the tarmac and briefly disrupting transport at two locations.

⭐ Due to Musk’s support of Trump, German pharmaceutical chain Rossman has decided to boycott Tesla (it currently has 600 of them in its fleet).

⭐ Compact, a far-right magazine that was recently banned due to its extremist nature, won an appeal in court. Despite the setback, the government vows to continue the fight.

⭐ A new section of the S21 will open up this December, connecting Wedding to Schöneberg and Sudkreuz.

⭐ Meanwhile, work on the railway connecting Berlin and Hamburg will continue until December.

⭐ Two nuclear cooling towers were demolished in Grafenrheinfeld yesterday as the country moves away from nuclear power. Yet, many coal plants in Germany remain in operation. 🤔

⭐ Some members of the German government would like to amend the constitution to include protections based on sexual identity. Of course, the CDU is not in favor.

⭐ Damn it. Renate, one of Berlin’s most legendary clubs, is set to close in 2025 after its landlord canceled its lease. 😭
