Attend Protests, Marches, Vigils
One way to feel like you’re taking part in something bigger is to attend a protest, march, or vigil:
1) StandwithUkraine.live – Find a protest near you.
2) Vitsche Berlin – An orgnization of young Ukrainians in Berlin. In addition to organizing demonstrations, they further offer a place for Ukrainians in Berlin to ask for help, as well as ample opportunity for you to offer up your help, be it a donation, offering to drive someone to a destination beyond Berlin, a platform to become a supportive friend to a Ukrainian, and more.
Donate Critical Items
Local aid organizations don’t just need cash, they need Berliners to donate items in kind:
1) Ukraine Hilfe Berlin is a good place to start. Before donating, read their FAQ (currently only in German) and their current material needs.
2) Arrival Center – Here you can view a list of items needed at Berlin’s Arrival Center. Read through the tasks and donate a combination of needed items. Note, as of Apr 26, 2022 their task list is empty. There’s no need to fret, as we capture tons of other ways to help on this page.
3) Spendenbruecke – This local initiative at Tempelhof needs not only donations in kind, but volunteers, and money as well.
4) Pilecki Institute – They’re collecting relief supplies for those in the Ukraine and need things like sleeping bags, power banks, etc. Visit their site for a list of what’s needed and where in Berlin to drop off donations.
5) Moabit Hilfts – this local NGO, also features constantly updated information about how Berliners can help. They are also accepting donations in kind – please refer to their list to understand what’s needed. Drop-offs to their location only.
6) Rückenwind – Donate a bicycle or volunteer as a bike mechanic to this great organization which provides bikes to refugees.

Hire Ukrainian Talent
Local employers can help Ukrainians get on their feet by hiring them for work. There are some amazing Berlin (and German) based initiatives that have attracted tons of great partner companies:

5) Looking for job or gig from Ukraine // 🇺🇦 IT agencies and freelancers open for work / 🖤 Companies offering work– Homegrown spreadsheets featuring all sorts of talented freelancers looking for a job.

Offer Shelter To Ukrainians (And Their Pets Too)
While the government is doing their best to accommodate Ukrainians and others fleeing the war, people across Germany are privately offering up their homes:
1) Unterkunft Ukraine – Register in this state recognized portal.
2) Shelter In Berlin – A more informal portal where you can sign-up to offer shelter.
3) Berliners Help Ukrainians / Hosting People Coming From Ukraine To Berlin – You can also use these Telegram groups. Note – the pace of communication in the groups can get quite overwhelming, so these channels might not be for everyone.
4) Every Bed Helps – Companies can offer serviced apartments here.
5) I Can Help Host / Shelter For Ukraine – A couple of other non-local platforms where you can register and offer shelter to Ukrainians.
6) Tasso – Be a foster to an animal brought to Germany from Ukraine.
7) Ukraine – Tierhilfe Berlin – A local Telegram group where you can find out how you can help to foster an animal.

1) Berlin.de – Before doing anything else, visit the state’s official page where they answer the most frequently asked questions about the current situation.
2) Germany4Ukraine – This brand new portal launched by the government containing information for Ukrainians entering into Germany.
Volunteer To Help Ukrainians In Berlin
If you have time, many local aid organizations can use your help in all sorts of different ways:
1) Frauentreff HellMa – An information and support point for refugees in Berlin. They really need translators, therapists, and more.
2) Lovelite Berlin – A safe space for refugees to gather to meet for coffee and cake, get needed support, and even learn German. You can also donate in kind – check out their list of needed items here.
3) Vostel – Check their portal for all sorts of ways you can help local Ukrainians in Berlin.
4) Ukraine Help Berlin – Fill out this form to offer help, including driving, translation services, therapy, and more. After you fill out the form, kindly wait to be contacted. They have volunteers on the other side coordinating things and they will get back to you based on the most urgent needs. Note – Drivers can offer rides to get people to other parts of Germany or the EU. After you fill out the form, it’s recommended you register on BlaBlaCar. The platform now allows you to create a volunteer driver profile.
5) Taxi Service For Peace – You can also register to drive people through this platform.
6) Дом открыт – Find out more ways to assist in this Berlin based Facebook group.
7) Help for Ukraine – Another non-local Facebook group where you can find out even more ways to help. Kindly, read the pinned thread before posting and inform yourself about how you can best contribute.
9) Arrival Support Berlin – Volunteers are desperately needed to help keep things running at various train stations in Berlin where literally, thousands of people are arriving everyday. People who can speak either Ukranian or Russian are in especially high demand. They need help with all sorts of things, but please, do NOT just show up. Inform yourself first by browsing through the information here. After that you can register for a shift.
10) Albatros Gmbh – More people are expected to arrive in Germany and this local organization needs help building shelter.
11) Imagine Ukraine – Maybe you’re not in the position of hiring someone, but perhaps you have a good network in Berlin and can help people find work. You can also give them pointers about how to format a German cover letter or CV. Become a coach!
12) Wir Sind Ukraine – Be a mentor and support person for Ukrainians arriving into Germany. Help them figure things out, like how to find a doctor, deal with bureaucracy, and more.
13) Krisenchat – If you’re a therapist, you can sign-up to offer urgent help to Ukrainians in need. They are looking for those who can speak Ukrainian or Russian especially.
14) Wir Helfen Berlin – Help out at the new arrival center at Berlin’s former airport, Tegel.

Dear all,
I just moved out Berlin and have some items that want to donate specifically to help the Ukrainian refugees.
As I’m no longer in Berlin it needs to be picked up in Mitte. The building has easy access and lift.
If you don’t take this kind of donations could you point me in the right direction?

You can research yourself which ones are accepting items and choose which one you want to help. Note a couple of things, most organizations have a specific list of items they need (you can’t just give them anything) and none of them do pick-up – they count on your goodness to take the items to their location.
