How to use these lists, plus other good to know things:
⭐ Company names link directly to career pages, so you can browse open roles right away. The description gives you a quick snapshot of what each company does.
⭐ Location matters. We’ve listed the German cities where each company is currently hiring, but this can change, so always check their website for the latest.
⭐ Relocation support and visa sponsorship exist, but don’t count on it. In today’s economic climate, many startups are prioritizing local hires to keep costs down, especially for non-EU candidates. If you need this kind of help, you’ll want to confirm this upfront.
⭐ Role examples are just a preview. We’ve highlighted a few positions to give you a sense of who they’re looking for, but visit their career site to see the full list.
⭐ Work arrangements differ a lot, from fully on-site to hybrid to remote. Even within the same company, different teams may have different setups, so check the specifics for each role.
⭐ Language requirements vary widely. Some roles need German, others are English-only, and many prefer both. We’ve noted what we found, but always check the job description for specifics.
⭐ Funding amounts tell a story. The final column shows individual and total funding for 2025. Bigger numbers often mean more hiring, better resources, and more runway.
⭐ This list changes fast. I update it regularly, but companies can pause hiring after funding rounds or pull postings without warning. If you’re interested in a company but don’t see openings, follow them on LinkedIn and check back periodically.
⭐ This guide a blanket recommendation to work at these companies. You still need to do your homework. Make sure any employer aligns with your values and career goals before applying.
⭐ I’m not a recruiter or affiliate. If you’re applying, go directly through the company’s official channels.

What Insights Does This Offer to Job Seekers in Germany
We can see some key trends across these best funded startups in Germany:
⭐ Two companies received €1B in funding (37% of the total funding listed on this page) – FINN and Green Flexibility.
⭐ Climate tech companies rule, taking 56% of total startup funding listed on this page. For climate tech companies hiring right now, see our list of 100+ startup funded in 2025.
⭐ Most of these companies require a significant capital investment into physical infrastructure, like battery factories, hydrogen plants, building renovations, etc.
⭐ Defense tech is another emerging area, with companies like Helsing and ARX Robotics seeing serious investment. This is new for Germany, as both companies emphasize “democratic defense” and “ethical AI” positioning, navigating Germany’s complex relationship with military technology.
⭐ Health care and biotech are also seeing big funding rounds, including Tubulis, AMBOSS, and Ortivity with investment being split between deep biotech requiring decade-long development and care delivery infrastructure.
⭐ Mobility was the second largest funding category, after climate tech and this is why we saw FINN, Roadsurfer, and CarOnSale take in € 1.2 B. They focus on vehicle as a service or B2B infrastructure, asset light platforms that work well.
⭐ Berlin and Munich continue to crush it as the nations leading startup hubs, but don’t overlook other locations where the competition for jobs may not be as fierce.
⭐ Most of the startups here (16 in total) need people who speak both in English & German. Companies needing only German speakers usually serve the domestic market, while those who only require English speaker usually cater to an international customer base. Knowing this, you can adjust your job search strategy accordingly. English + B2-C1 German unlocks the most opportunities.
⭐ Jobs in demand center around engineering – like full-stack engineers, DevOps types, and engineers with skills in photonics/hardware, electrical/solar, and mechnical/aereospace. Operational gigs are in demand as well – project/program managers, plant operation managers, fleet/logistics cooordinators, and finance staff. Then there are GTM specialists like sales development reps, marketing manager, and customer success people. As always, those working in healthcare remain very needed, as well as people with domain knowledge in climate and defense.
⭐ The highest opportunity areas for those looking for work in Germany will be climate tech, defense tech, and health/bio tech. Also, German startups focusing on enterprise AI and automation and advanced hardware.
⭐ Many of these companies are open to remote work, meaning you don’t need to be living in a major German city to secure these roles. Note, German companies require their remote workers to physically be in Germany paying taxes and social contributions, and contributing to the growth of the economy.
FAQ
Other commonly asked questions about the best funded startups in Germany.
How often do you update this list of funded startups?
I’ll update this guide regularly throughout 2025 as new funding announcements come in. Bookmark the page and check back, or subscribe to my newsletter where I share weekly funding updates.
What does it mean when a company was "funded twice" in 2025?
It means investors came back for a second round in the same year, which is a usually a strong signal. It shows the company is hitting milestones, growing fast, and has investor confidence. For you as a job seeker, it often means they’re scaling aggressively and likely hiring more people across multiple departments.
Should I only apply to the companies with the biggest funding rounds?
Not necessarily. Big funding (like €500M+) often means big teams, more structured processes, and potentially slower decision-making. Smaller rounds (€10M-€50M) can mean you’ll have more impact, wear multiple hats, and grow with the company. Think about what stage fits your career goals, not just the funding amount.
How do I know if a company is actually hiring after their funding announcement?
Check their careers page directly (links are in the table). Funding doesn’t always mean immediate hiring, as sometimes companies use it for R&D, infrastructure, or scaling existing teams. If there are no openings now but you’re interested, set up job alerts on their site or check back in a few weeks.
What's the difference between working at a €1B startup versus a €10M one?
At a €1B company like FINN or Green Flexibility, expect more established processes, larger teams, clearer career paths, and potentially better benefits. At a €10M company, you’ll likely have more autonomy, direct impact on company direction, and faster learning curves – but also more uncertainty and potentially fewer perks. Neither is better; it depends on what you want from your next role.
Does big funding mean better job security?
More runway helps, but it’s not a guarantee. A company with €200M can still restructure or pivot if things don’t go as planned. Multiple funding rounds (especially within the same year) are usually a better signal than one massive round, because it shows sustained investor interest. That said, startups are inherently riskier than established companies, regardless of funding.
Can I negotiate a higher salary at a freshly-funded startup?
Sometimes. Companies with new funding may have more budget flexibility, but they’re also being strategic about burn rate. If you’re bringing in-demand skills (like senior engineering, GTM expertise, or domain knowledge in climate/defense), you have more leverage. Do your research on market rates and be ready to make your case based on value, not just their funding news.
Should I mention their funding round in my cover letter or interview?
Only if it’s relevant to why you want to work there. Don’t lead with “I saw you raised €100M” as that sounds opportunistic. Instead, connect their growth trajectory to your career goals: “I’m excited to join a company at this scaling phase because…” or “Your recent funding shows you’re serious about expanding into X market, which aligns with my experience in…” Read our very detailed German cover letter guide.
What if none of these companies have openings in my field right now?
Use this list as a starting point, not the end point. Check the master list of 400+ funded startups for more options. Also, consider adjacent roles – if you’re in marketing but don’t see marketing jobs, look for companies hiring GTM roles where you could transition. And remember, companies often hire for roles before they post them, so reach out directly if you’re a strong fit. Germany is very open to cold or unsolicited applications.
Why is defense tech suddenly getting funded in Germany?
Germany is rethinking its stance on defense technology, especially after geopolitical shifts in recent years. Companies like Helsing and ARX Robotics emphasize “democratic defense” and ethical AI to navigate this carefully. For job seekers, it’s a growing sector with unique opportunities, but make sure you’re comfortable with the mission before applying as defense tech isn’t for everyone.
How competitive are jobs at these top-funded companies?
Very. Well-funded companies attract tons of applications, especially in hubs like Berlin and Munich. Stand out by tailoring your application to the specific role, demonstrating relevant skills, and showing you understand their market and mission. Networking helps too. Find someone who works there and ask for insights. Don’t just spray and pray; be strategic about where you apply.
What if I need German language skills but only speak English?
Focus on companies in the “English-only” category first, or those with international customer bases. At the same time, start learning German – even B1 level opens up significantly more opportunities. Many companies hiring for English-only roles still prefer candidates learning German, as it shows commitment to staying in Germany long-term.
This list shows you which German startups have the funding to hire, grow, and stick around. I’ll keep it updated as new funding rounds come in and companies change their hiring plans, so bookmark it if you want to check back.

A Canadian in Berlin for 10+ years, I have the unique experience of moving to Berlin – not once, but twice. During my time in Berlin, I’ve had five different visas and worked as both a freelancer and a permanent employee for numerous Berlin companies. I even managed to find a new job during the pandemic and again in 2023, during Germany’s recession and massive layoffs in tech.
My day job has involved work as a hiring manager, overseeing the recruitment of countless people, as well as a team coach helping teams and individuals work better and find happiness in their careers. Through my side projects, I’ve also shared my personal experiences by publishing a series of helpful blog posts, creating a thriving community of job seekers, and hosting events to help people find work in Berlin. In 2021, I decided to put my coaching and recruiting talents to use by creating The Berlin Life, bringing my existing content and community together in one spot.
